Carmine F. (Jit­ter) Tortarella Jr., 75, of Port St. Lu­cie, Fla.

Carmine F. (Jit­ter) Tortarella Jr., 75, passed away sud­denly on Tues­day, Nov. 1, 2016.

Carmine was born on Oct. 26, 1941, in Rhinebeck, N.Y., to the late Carmine Sr. and Loretta (Lat­tin) Tortarella. On Oct. 10, 1964 at Mt. Carmel Church, he mar­ried Pa­tri­cia A. Far­rell, with whom he re­cently cel­e­brated their 52 years of mar­riage to­gether.

He served in the U.S. Marines from De­cem­ber of 1960 to De­cem­ber of 1963, at­tain­ing the rank of Lance Cor­po­ral.

Carmine was a vol­un­teer fire­man, soft­ball player, horse­shoe player, hunter and fish­er­man.

He was em­ployed by C. F. Tortarella & Sons Tank and Pump Ser­vice, Iron Moun­tain Se­cu­rity Stor­age Corp., and Bap­tist Nurs­ing Home. He was em­ployed at IBM in Pough­keep­sie, New York. After a pe­riod of re­tire­ment, he re­turned to part-time em­ploy­ment at HITS Horse Shows in Sauger­ties, where he performed main­te­nance du­ties and op­er­ated heavy equip­ment.

In ad­di­tion to his wife, Carmine is sur­vived by two daugh­ters, Lisa Tortarella and Tracy and her hus­band, Steven Whi­taker; two grand­chil­dren, Trevor and Jessie Whi­taker; his brother and sis­ter-in-law, Rod­ney J. and Sharon Tortarella; his mother-in­law, Lucy A. Far­rell; his in-laws, Robert and Diane Far­rell; Karen and Jose Sil­veira; and Cyn­thia Far­rell. His broth­erin-law, David Far­rell, pre­de­ceased him. He is also sur­vived by his un­cle, Dou­glas Lat­tin, of Choctaw, Ok­la­homa. He is sur­vived by many nieces, neph­ews, cousins, friends and ex­tended fam­ily. Carmine is also sur­vived by his beloved dog, TJ.

Call­ing hours will be at Dap­son-Ch­est­ney Fu­neral Home, 51 W. Mar­ket St., Rhinebeck, N.Y., on Fri­day, Nov. 18, 2016, from2­to4and6to8 p.m.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be Satur­day, Nov. 19, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Dap­son-Ch­est­ney Fu­neral Home, with a pro­ces­sion to fol­low to the Rhinebeck Ceme­tery, where Mil­i­tary Hon­ors will be pre­sented by the Marine Corps Honor Guard.
