Ulster County Executive Mike Hein and the county Department of Planning have scheduled a public Information meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, on the Ashokan Rail Trail project.

The meeting will be in the Onteora High School Auditorium, 4166 state Route 28, Boiceville. Officials will provide background information and updates on the county’s planned Ashokan Rail Trail project, an 11.5-mile recreational trail along the northern edge of the Ashokan Reservoir between West Hurley and Boiceville. The meeting will include presentations by the county Planning Department, engineering consultants, and New York City Department of Environmental Protection.

The county is working to develop the trail as part of an effort to connect the Walkway Over the Hudson to the Ashokan Reservoir and Catskill Park through a rail trail system for bicyclists and pedestrians.
