Man accused of rest room surveillance
A Syracuse-area man has been charged with recording a boy in the men’s rest room at the New Baltimore Service Area on the Thruway, according to state police.
John D. Scofield II, 38, of Fayetteville, was charged Nov. 13 with unlawful surveillance, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police said.
Police said they went to the service area following a report of a disturbance and found Scofield with a Go-Pro Hero 4 recording device within a paper cup that he allegedly held over an adjacent bathroom stall where the boy was located.
A civilian restrained Scofield until officers arrived, police said.
Scofield was arraigned in New Baltimore Town Court and sent to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
