Dump truck rolls over on Route 28; driver OK

Daily Freeman (Kingston, NY) - - FRONT PAGE -

A portion of state Route 28 was closed for several hours Friday morning in this town of Olive hamlet after a dump truck rolled onto its side. State police said the accident occurred about 7:40 a.m. and that no injuries were reported. Route 28 near the scene was closed until about noon, with traffic diverted onto Reservoir Road and state Route 28A.

A fire department official at the scene said the dump truck, belonging to the town of Shandaken, was eastbound when it swerved to avoid a vehicle that pulled in front of it from Black Adler Road. The truck then ran up on an embankment and toppled to its left, landing on its driver’s side.

State police confirmed the truck belonged to the town of Shandaken but did not identify its driver or the driver of the other vehicle. A reporter’s call to the Shandaken Town Hall on Friday was not answered.
