Mount Academy boys seventh at Federation meet
Mount Academy’s boys team took seventh place Saturday in the state Federation cross country meet at Bowdoin Park.
The Eagles was seventh in the 26-team field with 235 points. Watkins Glen, which beat the Eagles 21-51 for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C title last week, captured the title with 145 points.
Daryl Blough led Mount Academy, finishing 36th in the 5-kilometer race out of 246 runners with a time of 16:57.2.
Also competing for the Mount were Kent Kurtz (57th, 17:16.6), Bernard King (59th, 17:18.1), Brendan Baird (92nd, 17:39.4), Jamie Keiderling (135th, 17:58.0), Justin Compy (170th, 18:12.2) and Adam King (174th, 18:13.9).
Roosevelt freshman Sarah Trainor had a strong showing in her Fed debut, placing 81st in a field of 249 with a 20:28.3 time. Trainor, the Mid-Hudson Athletic League champion, was third in the Section 9, Class A race and 53rd at the state meet.
