Mount Academy boys sev­enth at Fed­er­a­tion meet

Mount Academy’s boys team took sev­enth place Satur­day in the state Fed­er­a­tion cross coun­try meet at Bow­doin Park.

The Ea­gles was sev­enth in the 26-team field with 235 points. Watkins Glen, which beat the Ea­gles 21-51 for the New York State Pub­lic High School Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion Class C ti­tle last week, cap­tured the ti­tle with 145 points.

Daryl Blough led Mount Academy, fin­ish­ing 36th in the 5-kilo­me­ter race out of 246 run­ners with a time of 16:57.2.

Also com­pet­ing for the Mount were Kent Kurtz (57th, 17:16.6), Bernard King (59th, 17:18.1), Bren­dan Baird (92nd, 17:39.4), Jamie Kei­der­ling (135th, 17:58.0), Justin Compy (170th, 18:12.2) and Adam King (174th, 18:13.9).

Roo­sevelt fresh­man Sarah Trainor had a strong show­ing in her Fed de­but, plac­ing 81st in a field of 249 with a 20:28.3 time. Trainor, the Mid-Hud­son Ath­letic League cham­pion, was third in the Sec­tion 9, Class A race and 53rd at the state meet.
