As­tronomer to speak at Uni­tar­ian church

As­tronomer Bob Ber­man will be the guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. ser­vice of the Uni­tar­ian Univer­sal­ist Con­gre­ga­tion of the Catskills on Sun­day, Nov. 27.

Ber­man will speak on “Re­think­ing Space, Time, Con­scious­ness and the Il­lu­sion of Death.” His lat­est book, which fo­cuses on this sub­ject, ex­am­ines the na­ture of time, space and con­scious­ness through sci­en­tific dis­cov­er­ies in the past 60 years.

A res­i­dent of Wood­stock, Ber­man is na­tion­ally rec­og­nized as the long­time as­tron­omy colum­nist for “Dis­cover” and “As­tron­omy” mag­a­zines. He has writ­ten nine books, has served for many years as as­tron­omy ed­i­tor of the “Old Farm­ers Almanac,” and lec­tures on as­tron­omy at area venues such as Mo­honk Moun­tain House and at many na­tional parks.

Wor­ship ser­vices are held ev­ery Sun­day at the Univer­sal­ist Con­gre­ga­tion of the Catskills, 320 Sawkill Road.
