Pro­gram ex­am­ines wood­lands, wet­lands

A free sem­i­nar, “Wood­lands and Wet­lands: What Com­mu­ni­ties Need to Know,” will take place Mon­day, Dec. 5, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mar­ble­town Com­mu­nity Cen­ter, 3564 Main St.

Those at­tend­ing can learn about forests and wet­lands, strate­gies for land use and stew­ard­ship plan­ning, and ex­am­ples of how lo­cal mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties are con­serv­ing these re­sources for fu­ture gen­er­a­tions, in­clud­ing sev­eral ini­tia­tives un­der way in Ron­d­out Val­ley com­mu­ni­ties. Light re­fresh­ments will be served.

Lead­ing the dis­cus­sion will be Laura Heady of the state Depart­ment of En­vi­ron­men­tal Con­ser­va­tion’s Hud­son River Es­tu­ary Pro­gram, and Mar­i­lyn Wy­man of Cor­nell Co­op­er­a­tive Ex­ten­sion of Columbia and Greene Coun­ties.
