WHAT: Work­shop on mak­ing oil cloths WHEN: Dec. 3 at 3 p.m.

WHERE: Wagon House Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­ter at Olana State His­toric Site, 5720 state Route 9G, Hud­son

DE­TAILS: The pro­gram is de­signed to teach par­tic­i­pants how to make an oil cloth. The use of oil cloth as painted dec­o­ra­tive floor and fur­ni­ture cov­er­ings be­gan in the early 18th cen­tury. They were used to dec­o­rate door­ways, halls, din­ing rooms and as a dec­o­ra­tive protection for fur­ni­ture. The cost is $25, $20 for mem­bers. All sup­plies and tea and cake are in­cluded. No ex­pe­ri­ence nec­es­sary. Pr­ereg­is­tra­tion is en­cour­aged. Walk-in are wel­come, but not guar­an­teed.
