SUNY stu­dents charged in un­der­age drink­ing bust

The ar­rests were the re­sult of an early morn­ing po­lice raid at a Main Street bar near the col­lege.

An early morn­ing raid at P&G’s Restau­rant and Bar on Main Street in the vil­lage ended with the ar­rest of five un­der­age SUNY New Paltz stu­dents who used fake iden­ti­fi­ca­tions to buy drinks, po­lice said Tues­day.

Paige N. Glad­stone, Tay­lor E. LaFrance and Lo­gan Hornsey, all 19, Jes­sica M. Fox, 18, and Justin M. Ganca, 20, were ar­rested about 1:30 a.m. Fri­day af­ter town po­lice, with as­sis­tance from the Ul­ster County Sher­iff’s Of­fice, con­ducted an al­co­hol bev­er­age con­trol check at the 91 Main St. bar.

The drink­ing age in New York is 21.

Uni­formed of­fi­cers en­tered the bar and “iden­ti­fied pa­trons who ap­peared to be un­der the age of 21 who were con­sum­ing al­co­hol,” ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease.

Glad­stone and Hornsey were us­ing fake IDs with names other than their own, and each was charged with one mis­de­meanor count of crim­i­nal im­per­son­ation, ac­cord­ing to New Paltz Po­lice Lt. Rob Luc­ch­esi.

LaFrance, Fox and Ganca pre­sented fake IDs to a bar­tender, and each was charged with one mis­de­meanor count of crim­i­nal pos­ses­sion of a forged in­stru­ment, Luc­ch­esi said.

All five stu­dents were re­leased with tick­ets to ap­pear in New Paltz Court.

Luc­ch­esi said the bar­tenders were not charged.
