Daniel Jones Key, 30, of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Sun­day, Nov. 20, 2016, at Vas­sar Brothers Hos­pi­tal.

He was born on May 15, 1986 to Jonathan Key and Pa­tri­cia Jones Gun­sch. He was a Poughkeepsie na­tive, who at­tended Poughkeepsie High School and Dutchess Com­mu­nity Col­lege. He was a re­cent trans­plant to Eso­pus, N.Y.

Daniel had the good for­tune of work­ing for NBC and Ya­hoo and most re­cently a job he truly loved “land­scap­ing”. He loved to be out­doors, camp­ing, hik­ing, swim­ming, and for those who knew him well “jump­ing into those swim­ming holes from cliffs and rail­road tres­tles”. From the time he could hold a pole and dan­gle a hook in the lake or stream or river he truly found his “pas­sion”. From fly fish­ing the Aus­able River and catch­ing pike in Lake Cham­plain and stripers in the Hud­son. “He truly was hooked on fish­ing”.

Daniel is sur­vived by his mother, Pa­tri­cia Jones Gun­sch; fa­ther, Jonathan Key; brother and sis­ter-in­law, Mas­son Gun­sch and Laura Ven­toliere-Gun­sch; sis­ter and brother-in-law, Pru­dence and Rafael Peter­son; “lit­tle” brother Ji­had Otts; Aunt Cathy and Un­cle Kevin Parks, Aunt Sue and Un­cle Jeff Jones, Aunt Bar­bara and Un­cle Jerry Philipps and Aunt Jean and Un­cle Ron Key; cousins, Scott, Kim, Dy­lan and Hunter Parks, Shan­non and Billy Doxey, Jor­dan, Xza­vier and Xzan­der Parks, Cassie and Matt Jones, and Matt and Me­gan Key.

He was pre­de­ceased by his ma­ter­nal grand­par­ents, Florence and Ed­ward Jones; pa­ter­nal grand­par­ents, So­phie and Floyd Key; and his lov­ing dog, “Duke” who passed away in June.

Vis­i­ta­tion for Daniel will be held on Fri­day, Nov. 25, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., at Parmele, Auch­moody & Schoon­maker Fu­neral Home, 110 Ful­ton Ave., Poughkeepsie, N.Y., 12603. Fu­neral ser­vices will be held on Satur­day from the fu­neral home at 12 p.m. In­ter­ment will be pri­vate.
