Al­bert ‘Chappy’ Cashara, 89, of Glasco

Al­bert “Chappy” Cashara, 89, of Glasco, died peace­ful­ly­with his fam­ily present on Mon­day, Nov. 21, 2016.

He was the son of the late Joseph and Vin­cen­zia Cashara.

Sur­vivors in­clude his wife, He­len Merola Cashara; two sons, Joseph and his wife Charlein of Lake Katrine and An­thony of Corn­wall-on-Hud­son; his daugh­ter, Maryann Richard­son and her hus­band Danny of Saugerties; four grand­chil­dren, Nate, Eve­lyn, Ni­cole and Zachary; his sis­ter, Pauline Castiglione of Myr­tle Beach; and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. He was pre­de­ceased by six brothers, Frank, Alex, Michael, Joseph, John, and Peter, and five sis­ters, Laura, He­len, Rosie, Louise and Gilda.

He served in the U.S. Navy dur­ing World War II. He was a mem­ber of the Glasco Fire Com­pany, a parish­ioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Glasco and a mem­ber of the Holy Name So­ci­ety. Prior to Re­tire­ment he worked at Pil­grim Fur­ni­ture in Kingston. He worked for the Saugerties Cen­tral Schools and the Head Cus­to­dian of the High School and most of the el­e­men­tary Schools. He was also a man­ager, coach and um­pire fro the Glasco-East Kingston Lit­tle League.

A fu­neral pro­ces­sion will form 9:15 a.m. Satur­day, Nov. 26, 2016, at Buono Fu­neral Ser­vice, Inc. Saugerties, N.Y., then pro­ceed to St. Joseph’s Church in Glasco where a 10 a.m. Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated. In­ter­ment with full mil­i­tary hon­ors will fol­low im­me­di­ately in St. Mary of the Snow Ceme­tery. Fam­ily and friends will be re­ceived Fri­day at 2 un­til 4 p.m. and 7 un­til 9 p.m. at Buono Fu­neral Ser­vice, Inc.
