Farmers’ market now accepts SNAP benefits
The Rhinebeck Farmers’ Market will accept payment through the USDA’s Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp program.
SNAP helps reduce food insecurity or hunger for low-income households. The state Farmers Market Wireless Electronic Benefit Transfer Program made it possible for the Rhinebeck Farmers’ Market to process these benefits. The market also participates in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program and FreshConnect. Through Dec. 31, SNAP recipients can receive a $2 FreshConnect check for every $5 of SNAP benefits spent.
The Rhinebeck Farmers’ Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 4, 11, 18 and on alternate Sundays Jan. 15 through April 23 at Rhinebeck Town Hall, 80 East Market St. The outdoor market opens May 7 in the Rhinebeck municipal parking lot. For information, visit www.rhinebeckfarmersmarket.com.
