Su­san J. Schirmer, 70, of Saugerties

Su­san J. Schirmer, 70, of Mar­ket Street, died Tues­day, Nov. 22, 2016, sur­rounded by her fam­ily.

Born March 4, 1946, in Hart­ford, Conn., she was the daugh­ter of the late Gor­don and Ella Coons. A for­mer res­i­dent of West Camp, she resided in the Vil­lage of Saugerties for many years. Su­san was a life­time mem­ber of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Camp. As an ac­tive mem­ber of the church, she worked in the kitchen for nu­mer­ous church din­ners and made sure the linens on the al­tar were cleaned.

Sur­vivors in­clude her hus­band, Wil­liam “Bill” Schirmer, with whom she re­cently cel­e­brated their 48th wed­ding an­niver­sary; two sons, Ernest Schirmer of Saugerties and Erik and his wife, Kristal Schirmer, of Vir­ginia; one grand­daugh­ter, Emer­son Schirmer; one sis­ter, Gretchen Craft of Saugerties; and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

Her fu­neral ser­vice will be held pri­vately. Fam­ily sug­gests do­na­tions in her mem­ory be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Camp. Ar­range­ments are un­der the di­rec­tion of Sea­monWilsey Fu­neral Home Inc., cor­ner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties.
