Joseph Patrick Carmody, 71, of Woodstock
Joseph Patrick Carmody, 71, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at home.
In profound sorrow we mourn the passing of the beloved husband of Francine L. Carmody for 49 years; father of Joseph P. Carmody II and his friend Toni of Saugerties, and Brian Carmody and his wife Linda of Saugerties; three grandsons, Joseph P. III, Daniel John and Eric Michael Carmody; brother, Edward Carmody and his wife Leda of Jacksonville, Fla.; his sister, Jane Rittenberg and her husband Chuck of Arizona; and his beloved dog, Colt.
He graduated from Cathedral College in New York City with a degree in theology and computer science. He retired from IBM in Kingston in 1998, with 31 years of service. He was a communicant of St. John’s Church, Woodstock, and served as a trustee on the parish council. He was a committee chairman and scoutmaster for Troop 66 in West Hurley, coached Little League baseball in West Hurley, was a member of the Dug Hill Sportsman’s Club and was a third-degree member of the Knight’s of Columbus in Hyde Park.
Friends will be received Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lasher Funeral Home Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock. The funeral procession will form at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be sung at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church, Holly Hills Drive, Woodstock.
Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Saugerties. Contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice or West Hurley Rescue Squad, would be appreciated.
