Joseph Pa­trick Car­mody, 71, of Wood­stock

Joseph Pa­trick Car­mody, 71, passed away Satur­day, Nov. 26, 2016, at home.

In pro­found sor­row we mourn the pass­ing of the beloved hus­band of Francine L. Car­mody for 49 years; fa­ther of Joseph P. Car­mody II and his friend Toni of Saugerties, and Brian Car­mody and his wife Linda of Saugerties; three grand­sons, Joseph P. III, Daniel John and Eric Michael Car­mody; brother, Ed­ward Car­mody and his wife Leda of Jack­sonville, Fla.; his sis­ter, Jane Rit­ten­berg and her hus­band Chuck of Ari­zona; and his beloved dog, Colt.

He grad­u­ated from Cathe­dral Col­lege in New York City with a de­gree in the­ol­ogy and com­puter sci­ence. He re­tired from IBM in Kingston in 1998, with 31 years of ser­vice. He was a com­mu­ni­cant of St. John’s Church, Wood­stock, and served as a trustee on the parish coun­cil. He was a com­mit­tee chair­man and scout­mas­ter for Troop 66 in West Hur­ley, coached Lit­tle League base­ball in West Hur­ley, was a mem­ber of the Dug Hill Sports­man’s Club and was a third-de­gree mem­ber of the Knight’s of Colum­bus in Hyde Park.

Friends will be re­ceived Fri­day 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lasher Fu­neral Home Inc., 100 Tinker St., Wood­stock. The fu­neral pro­ces­sion will form at 9 a.m. Satur­day at the fu­neral home. A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be sung at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church, Holly Hills Drive, Wood­stock.

Burial will be in Chest­nut Hill Ceme­tery, Saugerties. Con­tri­bu­tions to the Alzheimer’s As­so­ci­a­tion, Hospice or West Hur­ley Res­cue Squad, would be ap­pre­ci­ated.
