Man charged in armed rob­bery of phar­macy

KERHONKSON >> A month­s­long in­ves­ti­ga­tion of the armed rob­bery of a drug­store has re­sulted in the ar­rest of a Kerhonkson man, state po­lice said Tues­day.

Joshua K. Stu­art, 40, was charged with felony rob­bery in con­nec­tion with the heist the morn­ing of Aug. 16 at the Catskill Phar­macy, 6401 U.S. Route 209, Kerhonkson, po­lice said.

Trooper Steven Nevel said in­ves­ti­ga­tors went to Stu­art’s mother’s home in Kerhonkson on Mon­day and Stu­art an­swered the door. Stu­art was charged at 6:30 p.m. at the state po­lice bar­racks in Wawars­ing af­ter be­ing brought there “to dis­cuss the in­ci­dent,” Nevel said. In the rob­bery, which hap­pened about 9:25 a.m. Aug. 16, a man wear­ing a mask held a phar­ma­cist at gun­point and de­manded pre­scrip­tion med­i­ca­tions and money, po­lice said.

Stu­art was ar­raigned in Wawars­ing Town Court and sent to the Ul­ster County Jail with­out bail.
