Nat­u­ral­iza­tion cer­e­mony sched­uled for Friday

Dutchess County Clerk Brad­ford H. Ken­dall will ad­min­is­ter the Oath of Al­le­giance to 57 in­di­vid­u­als rep­re­sent­ing 45 coun­tries at a Nat­u­ral­iza­tion cer­e­mony to be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Cun­neen-Hacket Arts Cen­ter, 12 Vas­sar St.

Fam­ily Court Judge and act­ing Supreme Court Jus­ticeJ oan S. Pos­ner will pre­side over the cer­e­mony. Ann Cham­bers Meagher, vice pres­i­dent of com­mu­ni­ca­tions, en­gage­ment and strat­egy for Pru­den­tial Fi­nan­cial will de­liver the key­note ad­dress.

Nat­u­ral­iza­tion is the process by which U.S. citizenship is con­ferred upon a for­eign cit­i­zen or na­tional af­ter he or she ful­fills the re­quire­ments es­tab­lished by Congress in the Im­mi­gra­tion and Na­tion­al­ity Act.

The bureau of Citizenship and Im­mi­gra­tion Ser­vices pro­cesses all nat­u­ral­iza­tion ap­pli­ca­tions and pro­vides the clerk’s of­fice with a list of the can­di­dates se­lected to be nat­u­ral­ized.
