Naturalization ceremony scheduled for Friday
Dutchess County Clerk Bradford H. Kendall will administer the Oath of Allegiance to 57 individuals representing 45 countries at a Naturalization ceremony to be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Cunneen-Hacket Arts Center, 12 Vassar St.
Family Court Judge and acting Supreme Court JusticeJ oan S. Posner will preside over the ceremony. Ann Chambers Meagher, vice president of communications, engagement and strategy for Prudential Financial will deliver the keynote address.
Naturalization is the process by which U.S. citizenship is conferred upon a foreign citizen or national after he or she fulfills the requirements established by Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act.
The bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services processes all naturalization applications and provides the clerk’s office with a list of the candidates selected to be naturalized.
