‘Mit­ten Tree’ do­na­tion pro­gram un­der­way

As part of its an­nual “Mit­ten Tree” ap­peal, the Hud­son River Mar­itime Mu­seum is ac­cept­ing dona­tions of new win­ter weather ac­ces­sories to be dis­trib­uted to lo­cal chil­dren in need.

Items such as warm mit­tens, gloves, hats and scarves will be ac­cepted. The mu­seum is also seek­ing dona­tions of new or slightly used fish­ing poles and reels to ben­e­fit res­i­dents at a lo­cal youth or­ga­ni­za­tion. All equip­ment must be in good work­ing or­der.

The mu­seum will be ac­cept­ing both kinds of dona­tions at the mu­seum gift shop from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thurs­days through Sun­days un­til Dec. 18 and at the ad­min­is­tra­tive of­fices from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon­days through Fri­days through Dec. 23. The dona­tions will be dis­played in the mu­seum’s East Gallery for the “Fish­ing Tree” and gift shop for the “Mit­ten Tree”

The mu­seum will de­liver the dona­tions by midJan­uary 2017.
