Insurance will cover cost of tree work at cemetery

The Town Board has approved a $2,300 contract with Dave’s Tree Service to remove the remains of two trees in the Rhinebeck Municipal Cemetery that fell during recent storms.

The cost of the work will be covered by insurance, town officials said.

Even with the main sections of the trees gone, a considerable amount remains, town Supervisor Elizabeth Spinzia said.

“They’re stumps and trunks [up to] 30 feet high,” Spinzia said at Monday’s board meeting.

“We took off what we could,” she said. “Now the trunks have to be ground out so we can replant.”

The agreement with Dave’s calls for what’s left of the trees to be ground into mulch.
