Frederick ‘Fred’ Schaffer, 80, of Kingston
Frederick “Fred” Schaffer, 80, of North St., died Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at the Kingston Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1935, in Saugerties he was the son of the late Fred and Agnes Farrell Schaffer. Fred was a retired employee of St. Lawrence Cement Co. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Saugerties and the Saugerties Exempts Fireman’s Association.
Predeceased by his wife, Doris in 2001, survivors include two stepsons: William (Cynthia) Marchetti and Vincent (Robin) Marchetti, both of Kingston; one stepdaughter, Debra Marchetti of Kingston; one son, Fred Schaffer, Jr., of N.C.; two brothers, Joseph and William (Pat) Schaffer, both of Saugerties; one sister, Agnes Allecca of Cairo; and three grandchildren, Lindsey, Daniel, and Stephen Marchetti. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jake and Vincent Schaffer; sister-in-law: Janice Schaffer; and a brother-in-law, Michael Allecca.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses at Golden Hill and the Kingston Hospital for their excellent care during Fred’s illness. His Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts. Friends will be received Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
