Fred­er­ick ‘Fred’ Schaf­fer, 80, of Kingston

Fred­er­ick “Fred” Schaf­fer, 80, of North St., died Mon­day, Nov. 28, 2016, at the Kingston Hos­pi­tal.

Born Dec. 4, 1935, in Sauger­ties he was the son of the late Fred and Agnes Far­rell Schaf­fer. Fred was a re­tired em­ployee of St. Lawrence Ce­ment Co. He was a mem­ber of the Sons of the Amer­i­can Le­gion in Sauger­ties and the Sauger­ties Ex­empts Fire­man’s As­so­ci­a­tion.

Pre­de­ceased by his wife, Doris in 2001, sur­vivors in­clude two step­sons: Wil­liam (Cyn­thia) Marchetti and Vin­cent (Robin) Marchetti, both of Kingston; one step­daugh­ter, De­bra Marchetti of Kingston; one son, Fred Schaf­fer, Jr., of N.C.; two broth­ers, Joseph and Wil­liam (Pat) Schaf­fer, both of Sauger­ties; one sis­ter, Agnes Al­lecca of Cairo; and three grand­chil­dren, Lind­sey, Daniel, and Stephen Marchetti. He was pre­de­ceased by two broth­ers, Jake and Vin­cent Schaf­fer; sis­ter-in-law: Jan­ice Schaf­fer; and a brother-in-law, Michael Al­lecca.

The fam­ily would like to ex­tend their grat­i­tude to the nurses at Golden Hill and the Kingston Hos­pi­tal for their ex­cel­lent care dur­ing Fred’s ill­ness. His Fu­neral Ser­vice will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sea­mon-Wilsey Fu­neral Home, Inc., cor­ner of John and Lafayette Sts. Friends will be re­ceived Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
