‘100 Cups of Cof­fee’ aims to im­prove city

The Fam­ily Part­ner­ship Cen­ter aims to build a “kin­der, safer, more con­nected” city — one cup of cof­fee at a time — at its third com­mu­nity gath­er­ing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thurs­day in the La­teef Is­lam Au­di­to­rium of the Fam­ily Part­ner­ship Cen­ter, 29 N. Hamil­ton St.

At the event, “100 Cups of Cof­fee, a Trans­for­ma­tive Di­a­logue Project,” par­tic­i­pants can tell their sto­ries and share hopes to fos­ter di­a­logue, or­ga­niz­ers say.

“Through small- and large-group con­ver­sa­tions, this Trans­for­ma­tive Di­a­logue Project aims to fos­ter bet­ter work­ing re­la­tion­ships be­tween peo­ple, thereby strength­en­ing the fab­ric of the com­mu­nity,” a flier an­nounc­ing the event says. “This project en­gages mem­bers of the Pough­keep­sie com­mu­nity, in­clud­ing law en­force­ment and faith com­mu­ni­ties, elected of­fi­cials, non-prof­its, com­mu­nity or­ga­ni­za­tions and neigh­bors.”
