New U.S. cit­i­zens to be sworn in Friday

A nat­u­ral­iza­tion cer­e­mony will be held Friday at the Ul­ster County Courthouse on Wall Street.

The cer­e­mony will be­gin at noon. About 22 new cit­i­zens will take their Oaths of Al­le­giance, ac­cept­ing the re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of an Amer­i­can while also gain­ing the rights and priv­i­leges af­forded to most Amer­i­cans by birth, Ul­ster County Clerk Nina Pos­tu­pack said in a press re­lease.

Pre­sid­ing over the cer­e­mony will be state Supreme Court Jus­tice Karen Peters, who also will be the key­note speaker.

Among those par­tic­i­pat­ing in the pro­gram will be Amer­i­can Le­gion and Vet­er­ans of For­eign Wars posts, the Ul­ster Lit­er­acy As­so­ci­a­tion, the Kingston Com­mu­nity Singers, the League of Women Vot­ers, Kingston Sun­rise Ro­tary and sev­eral lo­cal and state elected of­fi­cials.
