New U.S. citizens to be sworn in Friday
A naturalization ceremony will be held Friday at the Ulster County Courthouse on Wall Street.
The ceremony will begin at noon. About 22 new citizens will take their Oaths of Allegiance, accepting the responsibilities of an American while also gaining the rights and privileges afforded to most Americans by birth, Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack said in a press release.
Presiding over the ceremony will be state Supreme Court Justice Karen Peters, who also will be the keynote speaker.
For more information about the ceremony, call Postupack’s office at (845) 340-3040.
Among those participating in the program will be American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, the Ulster Literacy Association, the Kingston Community Singers, the League of Women Voters, Kingston Sunrise Rotary and several local and state elected officials.
