Fast start lifts Marist to vic­tory

Khalid Hart hit two free throws and added a 3-point play that al­lowed Marist to close out Univer­sity of Mas­sachusetts-Low­ell, 81-69.

The Red Foxes built a 10-point lead at in­ter­mis­sion and pushed it to a 14-point ad­van­tage early in the sec­ond half. But the River Hawks ral­lied, clos­ing to within four twice mid­way through the game.

Cameron Wolter hit a pair from the line to get UMass-Low­ell within four the fi­nal time, 5551 with 9:39 to play.

Hart hit two free throws to make it 57-51 with 9:22 left, and con­verted a 3-point play with 8:57 re­main­ing to make it 60-51.

The River Hawks got three late 3-point­ers from Matt Har­ris to stay close, but Marist pulled away down the stretch.

Hart fin­ished with 23 points and Ryan Funk added 20 for Marist (34).

Ja­had Thomas led UMass-Low­ell (2-6) with 23 points and Har­ris added 14.
