The 4-H Youth Development Program at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Dutchess County will offer a tractor and machinery safety training program for youths from Feb. 23 to April 1 at the Farm and Home Center.

The fee is $45, and the registration deadline is Feb. 3. A parent/guardian consent form must be completed at registration.

The program qualifies young workers for Hazardous Occupations Order in Agriculture certification, which is required to operate farm tractors and equipment. Youths 8-13 may participate in the classroom portion, but only children 14 and older may operate equipment and be certified.

The program will include discussions, demonstrations, hands-on activities, independent study and field assignments. A written exam and driving test then will be given.

To register, call Cassie Messina at (845) 6778223, ext. 108, or email cmm473@cornell.edu.
