Robert ‘Red’ Bence, 83, of Kingston

Robert “Red” Bence, 83, of Kingston, passed away Wed­nes­day, Jan. 11, 2017.

He was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Kingston, to the late Wil­liam Bence and Mar­garet (Kelder) Bence.

He was mar­ried to Dolores “Dee” (Doll) Bence, who passed away on Jan. 22, 2002. Red served in the U.S. Army dur­ing the Korean con­flict.

He later re­turned to Kingston and worked as a plumber for his family busi­ness, Bence Brothers Plumb­ing and Heat­ing, for over 30 years, and he also owned B&B Bait and Tackle in Kingston. He was an avid hunter and fish­er­man and was a mem­ber of JoyceSchir­ick VFW Post 1386.

Red is sur­vived by his chil­dren, Bar­bara (Paul) Cer­cone of Saugerties, Mar­garet (Pat) Jor­dan of Kingston, MSG(R) Robert J. Bence II of Colorado Springs, Colo., Da- vid (Tammy) Bence of Olive­bridge; nine grand­chil­dren, 18 great-grand­chil­dren, 2+ great­great-grand­chil­dren; his brother, Wil­liam F. Bence of Kingston; his dear friend, Au­drey De Pasquale of Kingston; and many nieces and neph­ews.

He was pre­de­ceased by his sis­ter, Mar­garet Bence.

En­trusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Fu­neral Home, 65 Lu­cas Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Sun­day, Jan. 15, 2017, from 3 to 6 p.m. The fu­neral ser­vice will be held on Mon­day at 11 a.m. at the fu­neral home, with burial fol­low­ing in St. Peter’s Ceme­tery, Kingston.
