Robert ‘Red’ Bence, 83, of Kingston
Robert “Red” Bence, 83, of Kingston, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017.
He was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Kingston, to the late William Bence and Margaret (Kelder) Bence.
He was married to Dolores “Dee” (Doll) Bence, who passed away on Jan. 22, 2002. Red served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He later returned to Kingston and worked as a plumber for his family business, Bence Brothers Plumbing and Heating, for over 30 years, and he also owned B&B Bait and Tackle in Kingston. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of JoyceSchirick VFW Post 1386.
Red is survived by his children, Barbara (Paul) Cercone of Saugerties, Margaret (Pat) Jordan of Kingston, MSG(R) Robert J. Bence II of Colorado Springs, Colo., Da- vid (Tammy) Bence of Olivebridge; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2+ greatgreat-grandchildren; his brother, William F. Bence of Kingston; his dear friend, Audrey De Pasquale of Kingston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Bence.
Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, from 3 to 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial following in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Kingston.
