Wa­ter­shed Al­liance hosts talks at li­brary

The Wal­lkill River Wa­ter­shed Al­liance Boat Bri­gade will present lec­tures in the Gar­diner Li­brary Com­mu­nity Room, 133 Farmer’s Turn­pike, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 22, Feb. 26 and March 19.

On Jan. 22, “Death by 10,000 Cul­verts!” will be pre­sented by An­drew Meyer, a con­ser­va­tion spe­cial­ist for the state Depart­ment of En­vi­ron­men­tal Con­ser­va­tion, who will talk about cul­verts, dams and their im­pact on wildlife. On Feb. 26, Laura Heady, con­ser­va­tion and land use co­or­di­na­tor for the Hud­son River Es­tu­ary Pro­gram and Cor­nell Univer­sity, will present “Why did the Sala­man­der Cross the Road?” March 19, An­drew Will­ner, a leader of ef­forts to pro­tect land and wa­ter­ways in New York and New Jer­sey, will dis­cuss “Build­ing Strong Grass­roots Or­ga­ni­za­tions.”
