Suspect had heroin, loaded gun, police say

A city man was arrested with more than 200 decks of heroin and a loaded semiautoma­tic handgun after a multiple-agency investigat­ion, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Prince A. Ellis, 51, was arrested at 11 p.m. April 13 by state police, members of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcemen­t Narcotics Team and the Kingston Police Department’s Special Investigat­ions Unit after a warrant was executed at a home on Garden Street in Kingston owned by Ellis, authoritie­s said.

In addition to heroin and a loaded 9mm semiautoma­tic handgun, police found $4,000 cash in the residence, they said.

Ellis was charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

He was arraigned in Hurley Town Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
