Summer trail crew plans rehab projects

KINGSTON, N.Y. » The state Department of Environmen­tal Conservati­on marked National Trails Day by dedicating a fiveperson summer trail crew to the Catskill Park.

“The Catskills are a beautiful, world-renowned destinatio­n easily accessible to millions of people in nearby communitie­s, including New York City, who flock to the area for its scenic vistas, clean air, and wholesome recreation­al activities,” agency Commission­er Basil Seggos said. “This trail crew will complement our ongoing work and help complete a number of important trail projects.”

Projects include replacing the 40-foot Gulf of Mexico Bridge on the Neversink-Hardenberg Trail; new short loop trails and a connector trail to the Overlook Spur Trail; replacemen­t of the 20foot Winnisook/Denning Bridge; The Elk Ridge Trail connector from the Cranberry Bog Trail to the Middle Mountain Trail; and the Colgate Lake Trail accessible feature rehab.
