High school will have new prin­ci­pal Dec. 4

HIGH­LAND, N.Y. » High­land High School As­sis­tant Prin­ci­pal Wil­liam Zim­mer has been pro­moted to prin­ci­pal by the Board of Ed­u­ca­tion.

Zim­mer’s first day in his new po­si­tion at the high school will be Dec. 4.

He is suc­ceed­ing Peter Har­ris, who is leav­ing the High­land Cen­tral School District to be­come prin­ci­pal of Ul­ster BOCES’ Hud­son Val­ley Path­ways Academy.

Zim­mer has 26 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in ed­u­ca­tion and has been em­ployed at High­land High School since 2014.

Prior to that, he worked in the Le­vit­town school district, on Long Is­land, as a cur­ricu­lum as­so­ciate for English Lan­guage Arts, a district-level po­si­tion in which he su­per­vised all ELA/English teach­ers, read­ing teach­ers and li­brary me­dia spe­cial­ists.

Zim­mer pre­vi­ously served as a build­ing ad­min­is­tra­tor at Ron­d­out Val­ley Mid­dle School in Ul­ster County.
