Ulster County lauded for environmental efforts
KINGSTON, N.Y. » Ulster County’s Net Carbon Neutral Operation was among seven initiatives statewide recognized for stateof-the-art programs and commitment to environmental sustainability, social responsibility and economic viability, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
The department honored the initiatives during the recent 14th Annual New York State Environmental Excellence Awards celebration, held at Union College in Schenectady The awards were presented by the department’s acting chief of staff, Julie Tighe.
A press release about the honorees noted that Ulster County has received national recognition for its commitment to environmental stewardship.
“County leadership is dedicated to increasing the county’s energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy generation,” the release states.
