Ul­ster County lauded for en­vi­ron­men­tal ef­forts

KINGSTON, N.Y. » Ul­ster County’s Net Car­bon Neu­tral Op­er­a­tion was among seven ini­tia­tives statewide rec­og­nized for sta­teof-the-art pro­grams and com­mit­ment to en­vi­ron­men­tal sus­tain­abil­ity, so­cial re­spon­si­bil­ity and eco­nomic vi­a­bil­ity, ac­cord­ing to the state Depart­ment of En­vi­ron­men­tal Con­ser­va­tion.

The depart­ment hon­ored the ini­tia­tives dur­ing the re­cent 14th An­nual New York State En­vi­ron­men­tal Ex­cel­lence Awards cel­e­bra­tion, held at Union Col­lege in Sch­enec­tady The awards were pre­sented by the depart­ment’s act­ing chief of staff, Julie Tighe.

A press re­lease about the hon­orees noted that Ul­ster County has re­ceived na­tional recog­ni­tion for its com­mit­ment to en­vi­ron­men­tal stew­ard­ship.

“County lead­er­ship is ded­i­cated to in­creas­ing the county’s en­ergy con­ser­va­tion, en­ergy ef­fi­ciency, and re­new­able en­ergy gen­er­a­tion,” the re­lease states.
