High school of­fer­ing SAT prep course

AC­CORD, N.Y. » Ron­d­out Val­ley High School sopho­mores and ju­niors will have the op­por­tu­nity to par­tic­i­pate in a free SAT prepa­ra­tion course dur­ing school hours in Jan­uary.

The spring-se­mes­ter course will be taught dur­ing eighth or ninth pe­riod be­gin­ning Jan. 29.

The course will help Ron­d­out Val­ley stu­dents pre­pare for the col­lege ad­mis­sion test, which is to be ad­min­is­tered at the high school May 5. The course also will ben­e­fit stu­dents in­ter­ested in tak­ing the ACT, ac­cord­ing to the district.

The prep classes will em­pha­size con­tent, con­fi­dence-build­ing and test­tak­ing tech­niques, the pru­dent use of test time, and scor­ing. Teach­ers will also pro­vide per­son­al­ized feed­back and sug­ges­tions for im­prove­ment.

Stu­dents in­ter­ested in tak­ing this prep course should sign up in the high school guid­ance of­fice be­fore Jan. 29.
