Ralph Rosenkranz, 53 years of age, passed away at home on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, after a long illness.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Jeannette Rosenkranz; his mother, Erna Hembling; his father, Hugo Rosenkranz; stepmother, Hermina Rider; his sister, Delpha Snow and husband Richard Snow; his sister, Sylvia Haoula and husband Ayman Haoula; nephew, Mohammad Haoula; his sister-in-law, Helene Rosenkranz; niece, Renee Rosenkranz; and nephews, Russell Rosenkranz, Erik Rosenkranz, and Kreg Rosenkranz; as well as a number of other family members and friends. He was predecease­d by his brother, Thomas Rosenkranz.

Ralph was born on Oct. 20, 1964, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Erna Hembling (formerly Hermann) and Hugo Rosenkranz. The family moved to Samsonvill­e, N.Y., in 1976. He enjoyed playing sports in his youth and demonstrat­ed athletic talents playing soccer, baseball, basketball, and swimming. He was a graduate of Onteora High School and spent time in the U.S. Navy. Ralph became a roofer and worked at Cama Roofing and J&A Roofing. He also had skills in constructi­on and carpentry projects and assisted many friends and neighbors on a variety of projects. Ralph married Jeannette Bowman on June 13, 1997. They lived in Ulster County, and most recently in Phoenicia, N.Y. Ralph was a loving person and loyal friend who had a big heart and was always willing to help family, friends, and neighbors. He was truly a man of the outdoors, with a passion for fishing and hunting and spent much time in the Catskill Mountains, its reservoirs and rivers, finding enjoyment and quiet time in nature. He also loved to go salmon fishing with friends on the Salmon River.

Ralph will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A memorial to celebrate and honor Ralph’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, from noon to 3 p.m. at the pavilion at Lester S. Davis Park, 45 Watson Hollow Road, West Shokan, N.Y.
