Red Hook surges to win over Pine Bush
Red Hook High pushed the pace and kept possession of the ball en route to a 4-0 Mid-Hudson Athletic League field hockey on Friday.
“We connected passes, stepped to the ball and supported each other throughout the game,” Red Hook coach Cari Meltzer said. “Ally McCrudden and Sydney Ottman dominated the center of the field and made ball distribution their top priority.
Danielle Walsh got the Raiders on the board with just under five minutes to play in the first half off a Bailey Jordan assist and McCrudden managed to knock one past Pine Bush goalkeeper Abby Halpin less than two minutes later to give (10-2, 8-2) Red Hook a 2-0 advantage at the half.
The Raiders momentum continued in the second With Bailey Jordan adding goals to the effort off feeds from Danielle Walsh with 26 minutes to play and three minutes left in regulation. Red Hook dominated the (6-5) Bushmen 14-3 on shots on goal and held an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.
Halpin recorded 8 saves for Pine Bush.
At Poughkeepsie, Eva Leonard earned a hat trick, connecting off feeds from Corey Chun each time as the Eagles prevailed.
Lola Mainieri’s unassisted goal rounded the scoring.
