Red Hook surges to win over Pine Bush

Red Hook High pushed the pace and kept pos­ses­sion of the ball en route to a 4-0 Mid-Hud­son Ath­letic League field hockey on Fri­day.

“We con­nected passes, stepped to the ball and sup­ported each other through­out the game,” Red Hook coach Cari Meltzer said. “Ally McCrud­den and Syd­ney Ottman dom­i­nated the cen­ter of the field and made ball dis­tri­bu­tion their top pri­or­ity.

Danielle Walsh got the Raiders on the board with just un­der five min­utes to play in the first half off a Bai­ley Jor­dan as­sist and McCrud­den man­aged to knock one past Pine Bush goal­keeper Abby Halpin less than two min­utes later to give (10-2, 8-2) Red Hook a 2-0 ad­van­tage at the half.

The Raiders mo­men­tum con­tin­ued in the sec­ond With Bai­ley Jor­dan adding goals to the ef­fort off feeds from Danielle Walsh with 26 min­utes to play and three min­utes left in reg­u­la­tion. Red Hook dom­i­nated the (6-5) Bush­men 14-3 on shots on goal and held an 8-5 edge in penalty cor­ners.

Halpin recorded 8 saves for Pine Bush.


At Pough­keep­sie, Eva Leonard earned a hat trick, con­nect­ing off feeds from Corey Chun each time as the Ea­gles pre­vailed.

Lola Mainieri’s unas­sisted goal rounded the scor­ing.
