Axel Gomez scored the win­ning goal with two min­utes re­main­ing and earned a hat trick as Sauger­ties High topped New Paltz 3-2 in a Mid-Hud­son Ath­letic League boys soc­cer match on Fri­day.

The Huguenot’s struck first when Is­sac Cherviyot scored in the 20th minute, but Gomez re­sponded with the equal­izer for Sauger­ties, and he later de­posit­edthego-ahead­goaljust­be­fore half­time to make it 2-1 Sawyers.

Cherviy­ot­foundthene­ta­gain in the 65th minute to level it at 2-2.

Ai­dan Kirsch con­trib­uted an as­sist for New Paltz.

The Huguenots out­shot the Sawyers 10-5 and edged them 5-4 in cor­ners.

Jax Mau­tone regis­tered eight saves for Sauger­ties, while Daniel Drewnoski had two for New Paltz.
