50 vin­tage au­tos and mo­tor­cy­cles will be fea­tured in the Grand Prix to ben­e­fit city

COATESVILLE >> The race for the city re­vi­tal­iza­tion is still on.

The Coatesville In­vi­ta­tional Vin­tage Au­to­mo­bile Grand Prix will fea­ture ap­prox­i­mately 50 vin­tage au­tos and mo­tor­cy­cles dat­ing back from the early 1900s through the 1960s. The ve­hi­cles may be pre­viewed from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. along the “Pit Row” from 100 through 300 blocks of Lin­coln High­way. Cars can stage on Fri­day, Sept. 23 at the Mar­riott Court­yard Coatesville, Coatesville City Hall, One City Hall Place and ad­join­ing lots.

The race from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Satur­day, Sept. 24 will fol­low a 2.2 mile course along Lin­coln High­way through the city and its sur­round­ing neigh­bor­hoods.

The cars will line up after 8 a.m. in Pit Row with a pa­rade lap at 9:30 a.m. The first race starts at 10 a.m. The fi­nal tro­phy cer­e­monies will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Gate­way Park at First Av­enue and Lin­coln High­way.

Pro­ceeds from the Grand Prix will ben­e­fit the City of Coatesville’s Park and Re­cre­ation Im­prove­ment Fund.

“Coatesville is at a piv­otal cross­roads in its tra­jec­tory,” event or­ga­niz­ers said in a news re­lease. “Over 13,000 residents di­vided into four neigh­bor­hoods within a pic­turesque val­ley are join­ing to­gether to trans­form

and re­ac­ti­vate the city into a grow­ing, vi­brant des­ti­na­tion.”

There will a ven­dor vil­lage at Gate­way Park fea­tur­ing auto and in­dus­trial mem­o­ra­bilia open from 10 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Bands, food trucks, wine tast­ing and en­ter­tain­ment in­clud­ing the Coatesville High School Jr. ROTC band and Sil­ver Sound Disc Jock­eys and more will be an­nounced as guests at the Grand Prix Day. Ad­mis­sion is free.

Or­ga­niz­ers said on­go­ing projects and part­ner­ships in the city il­lus­trate that residents, busi­nesses and of­fi­cials are work­ing to “cre­ate a sense of com­mu­nity and a pub­lic realm that is di­verse and dy­namic.”

“These ini­tia­tives are strength­ened and em­bold­ened with the sup­port of city govern­ment and the de­vel­op­ment of land­mark events such as the Coatesville Grand Prix,” or­ga­niz­ers said.

Event spon­sors in­clude Tro­phy Spon­sor Brian Hoskins Ford, West Chester AUDI, RDS Maserati, McLaren and Porsche, Pen­noni, Brandy­wine Health Foun­da­tion, Cedarville En­gi­neer­ing, Vic­tory Brew­ing and other dis­tin­guished busi­nesses who are sup­port­ing mo­tor sports on Coatesville’s Lin­coln High­way: Amer­ica’s First His­toric Su­per-High­way.
