Cops: Police investigate lug nut theft
Police are investigating a case of vehicular tampering after a wheel fell off of a minivan as it pulled away from a parking spot at Wal-mart, 650 Trooper Road, Sept. 9. The victim told the responding officer she started to drive home around 3:45 p.m. when she heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. She got out and found that all the lug nuts and the hubcap of her rear passengers side wheel had been removed, and the tire was wedged against the axle. Two bricks, possibly used to prop the vehicle up, were found in her parking space.
A man was charged with drug possession and resisting arrest after a scuffle with police outside Tony G’s bar and restaurant, 1991 W. Main St. Sept. 8. Officers on patrol noticed the suspect enter the establishment around 11 p.m. and leave a few minutes later. He got into a pickup truck and reportedly pulled out of the parking lot onto West Main Street without coming to a complete stop, prompting police to pull him over. The driver allegedly made furtive movements as officers approached, and police smelled marijuana in the vehicle. When ordered out of the truck, the man refused and began struggling with police. Two officers pulled him from the vehicle and a stun gun was deployed in an attempt to restrain him. The suspect continued to struggle, but was eventually placed into custody. The plastic bags he discarded were found to contain marijuana and methamphetamine, respectively. Both officers and the suspect were treated for minor injuries. and food was missing from their refrigerator. The victims suspect their estranged daughter, and were undecided as to whether to press charges.
