Find gently-used clothing, toys and baby equipment at annual fall sale
On Oct.5,6, and 7, Grove United Methodist Church, 490 W. Boot Road, north of West Chester, will host its fall sale of gently used clothing, toys, children’s books, and baby equipment. Sale hours are Oc. 5, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; and Oct. 7, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Grove hosts this sale twice yearly, and each time designates a charity recipient of the proceeds. This time it is buckets of supplies for flood victims. Last spring’s sale raised over $1,000 for Behind the Bars, a prison music ministry. The sale engages over 50 volunteers in sorting the merchandize and keeping items folded and well presented during the sale. All clothing items are sorted by size and type (e.g., women’s, long sleeved). Local service agencies are invited to recommend clients to receive free clothing, and last spring 104 families qualified.
Clothing remainders go to local shelters and similar agencies. Children’s book remainders go to the Laundromat Library League. Note that baby equipment (e.g., strollers) are included n the sale and there usually are no remainders.
Donations of items may be brought to the church building Oct. 2-4.
Parking is free and ample. For directions, visit www.grovechurch.org. For questions, email ClothingMinistry@GroveChurch.org or call 610-696-2663.
