Shirley A. Whiteman of Elverson
Shirley A. Whiteman, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester, with her family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of John W. Whiteman, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Elsie Baum Griffith.
Shirley worked for 35 years as an electronics assembler.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed shopping for her family. She also was a very artistic woman.
In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her five children, Robin E. D’Amico (Dave), Dawn M. Gentile (Dave), John W. Whiteman, Jr. (Kim), Bambi L. Lapp and Christopher Todd Whiteman. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a brother, John P. Griffith. She was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and Joseph Griffith.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Honey Brook United Methodist Church, 4510 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, where family and friends may call from 9:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment will be private with the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester, 400 E. Marshall Street, West Chester, Pa 19380 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
