Don­ald E. Virtue of Ex­ton

Don­ald E. Virtue, age 91, passed away on Sept. 3, 2016. He was for­merly of Broomall, Her­shey’s Mill and Drexel Hill.

Don­ald was a grad­u­ate of Marple New­town Se­nior High School class of 1942. Af­ter the war he re­turned to school and at­tended the Whar­ton School.

He served in the Pa­cific Theatre of Op­er­a­tions as a ra­dio/gun­ner for the Navy Air Corps, be­ing part of a crew fly­ing in a B-24 Lib­er­a­tor.

Mr. Virtue worked for the for­mer Philadel­phia Na­tional Bank, (now Wells Fargo) for 47 years, re­tir­ing in 1990 as a Sr. Vice Pres­i­dent and acting Penn­syl­va­nia State Trea­sury Li­ai­son Of­fi­cer.

Don was a mem­ber of Marple Pres­by­te­rian Church where he was a Dea­con and served on the Sun­day Col­lec­tion team. His mem­ber­ships also in­cluded serv­ing on the Board of the Pres­by­te­rian Home, Lions Club of Delaware County, the Board of Her­shey’s Mill Coun­try Club and was a 50 year mem­ber of the Freema­sons Com­mu­nity Lodge #744 F&AM.

He is sur­vived by his wife Mar­garet J. (nee Hil­liard) Virtue whom he mar­ried on Aug. 18, 1945. He is also sur­vived by chil­dren, Diane (Wil­liam) Mor­ton of Dou­glassville, Don­ald Barry (Janet) Virtue of Col­legeville and Jeff (Jeanne) Virtue of Lit­tle­ton, CO, six grand­chil­dren and two great grand­daugh­ters.

Rel­a­tives and friends are in­vited to his Memo­rial Ser­vice on Wed., Oct 5, 2016 at 11:00AM in the Marple Pres­by­te­rian Church, 105 S. Marple Rd., Broomall, PA 19008, where friends may call af­ter 10:00AM.

Memo­ri­als may be sent in his name to the Marple Pres­by­te­rian Church.
