Donald E. Virtue of Exton
Donald E. Virtue, age 91, passed away on Sept. 3, 2016. He was formerly of Broomall, Hershey’s Mill and Drexel Hill.
Donald was a graduate of Marple Newtown Senior High School class of 1942. After the war he returned to school and attended the Wharton School.
He served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations as a radio/gunner for the Navy Air Corps, being part of a crew flying in a B-24 Liberator.
Mr. Virtue worked for the former Philadelphia National Bank, (now Wells Fargo) for 47 years, retiring in 1990 as a Sr. Vice President and acting Pennsylvania State Treasury Liaison Officer.
Don was a member of Marple Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon and served on the Sunday Collection team. His memberships also included serving on the Board of the Presbyterian Home, Lions Club of Delaware County, the Board of Hershey’s Mill Country Club and was a 50 year member of the Freemasons Community Lodge #744 F&AM.
He is survived by his wife Margaret J. (nee Hilliard) Virtue whom he married on Aug. 18, 1945. He is also survived by children, Diane (William) Morton of Douglassville, Donald Barry (Janet) Virtue of Collegeville and Jeff (Jeanne) Virtue of Littleton, CO, six grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on Wed., Oct 5, 2016 at 11:00AM in the Marple Presbyterian Church, 105 S. Marple Rd., Broomall, PA 19008, where friends may call after 10:00AM.
