Preda­tors ex­tend coach Lavi­o­lette’s deal

NASHVILLE, TENN. >> The Nashville Preda­tors have ex­tended coach Peter Lavi­o­lette’s con­tract through the 2020-2021 sea­son.

Gen­eral man­ager David Poile an­nounced the ex­ten­sion Satur­day.

Lavi­o­lette is go­ing into his third sea­son with Nashville. He is 23 vic­to­ries away from 500, which only 23 coaches have reached in the NHL. Lavi­o­lette also needs 77 games to reach 1,000 games coached.

He coached the Preda­tors to the sev­enth game of the sec­ond round of the play­offs last spring, the fur­thest the Preda­tors have ad­vanced in the post­sea­son.

Lavi­o­lette won the Stan­ley Cup with Carolina in 2006 and also reached the Stan­ley Cup Fi­nal with Philadel­phia in 2010. He also has coached the Islanders.
