Richard A. Moore, 84, died at his res­i­dence in the High­lands at Wy­omiss­ing.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Doris.

Born in the Vil­lage of Ea­gle, he was the son of the late Mark C. and Grace E. (Yocum) Moore

. Richard was a U.S. Army vet­eran of the Korean Con­flict work­ing for SHAPE, (Supreme Head­quar­ters Al­lied Pow­ers Europe).

An an en­tre­pre­neur, he founded Moore’s Fur­ni­ture store, built many barns in Ch­ester County, owned a lum­ber yard and sev­eral other busi­nesses.

His hob­bies in­cluded fox hunt­ing and driv­ing horses. Car­tog­ra­phy was also a hobby.

Richard’s pas­sion in life was art and pho­tog­ra­phy. He was a tal­ented artist who loved to paint and pho­to­graph won­der­ful scenes.

He and his wife trav­eled to many places in­clud­ing: Botswana, Gala­pa­gos, Europe and Brazil.

He also wrote a book ti­tled, “The Way it Was”, de­scrib­ing life in the vil­lages of Ea­gle and By­ers Sta­tion in the 1940’s.

In ad­di­tion to his wife, he is sur­vived by son, Gary Moore of Ch­ester County; two grand­chil­dren, three great grand­chil­dren; one step­daugh­ter, Deb­o­rah John and three step-grand­chil­dren.

Ser­vices will be pri­vate at the con­ve­nience of the fam­ily. In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions can be made to the Amer­i­can Heart As­so­ci­a­tion, 208 S.
