2 charged with steal­ing po­lit­i­cal sign

Po­lice filed charges against two men after they re­port­edly stole a po­lit­i­cal cam­paign sign from a prop­erty in the 1500 block of Bur­goyne Road on Sept. 23.

Po­lice charged Jonathan Hohn­s­tine, 19, and Dono­van Rut­ledge, 26, both of West Ch­ester, with theft by un­law­ful tak­ing and re­ceiv­ing stolen prop­erty. The charges were filed after a res­i­dent re­ported the theft of a po­lit­i­cal cam­paign sign from his prop­erty, po­lice said.

The fol­low­ing po­lice re­ports were re­leased by the West Whiteland and West Ch­ester po­lice depart­ments.

West Whiteland

• Ni­cholas Lusby, 32, of Coatesville, was charged with forgery, theft by de­cep­tion and re­ceiv­ing stolen prop­erty. The charges were filed after Lusby al­legedly passed coun­ter­feit money to make a $140 pur­chase at the Wal-Mart store on Sept. 11.

• Gre­gory Van­zan­ten Jr., 26, of Down­ing­town, was charged with forgery, re­ceiv­ing stolen prop­erty and theft by de­cep­tion. The charges were filed after a town­ship res­i­dent re­ported the theft of three per­sonal checks on Sept. 14. Van­zan­ten was the per­son iden­ti­fied as pass­ing the three checks val­ued at $2,750.

• Anya Hester, 24, of Lan­caster, was charged with re­tail theft, re­ceiv­ing stolen prop­erty and crim­i­nal con­spir­acy. The charges were filed after an in­ves­ti­ga­tion de­ter­mined that Hester and an uniden­ti­fied woman were re­spon­si­ble for a $50 theft from the Old Navy store on Sept. 19.

• Jes­sica Smith, 18, of West Ch­ester, was charged with re­tail theft and re­ceiv­ing stolen prop­erty. The charges were filed after an of­fi­cer re­sponded to the Boscov’s store for an
