Placemaking grant builds playground in Kennett
The Suburban West Realtors Association has received a $1,500 placemaking grant from the National Association of Realtors to help fund the installation of a playground at Herb Pennock Park.
The playground installation was accomplished through a partnership between Suburban West, the Kennett Area Parks and Recreation Board, Kennett Square Borough, and Kennett Township on the project.
“Realtors live, work and volunteer in their communities and take immense pride in working to improve them,” said Leann Murphy, chairman of Suburban West and a Realtor with Re/Max Preferred in West Chester. “This grant will allow us to address areas in the community that are in need of improvement and create a place where friends and neighbors can come together.”
Placemaking grants are awarded to local and state Realtor associations to help them and their members initiate placemaking projects in communities they serve. Realtor associations and their members are actively engaged in their communities and know the neighborhoods and the properties that would benefit most from these improvement efforts.
“As the Kennett area becomes more attractive and welcoming, nearby properties may also increase in value,” said Murphy.
