Fire com­pany marks 125 years

The Wis­sahickon Fire Com­pany cel­e­brates a mo­men­tous 125 years as a thriv­ing all-vol­un­teer unit. Since its found­ing in 1891, the fire com­pany has grown from a hand­ful of mem­bers to 60 vol­un­teers who re­spond to 600 emer­gency calls each year.


Am­bler Mayor Jeanne Sorg was joined by Am­bler Po­lice Chief Bill Fo­ley, Am­bler Coun­cil Vice Pres­i­dent Ed Cur­tis and Am­bler Coun­cil mem­ber Nancy Deininger in pre­sent­ing a ci­ta­tion to Wis­sahickon Fire Chief Philip Koller, Fire Com­pany Pres­i­dent Bob Gil­man and Fire Com­pany Mem­bers hon­or­ing 125 years of self­less ser­vice.
