County housing market drops
The housing market in Chester County cooled a bit in September, according figures for the month in the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach Market Report.
In September, 624 properties sold in the county, down 1.7 percent from the 635 sold in September 2015. The median price of properties sold declined almost 5 percent, from $310,000 in September 2015 to $295,000 this year. Properties took 65 days to sell compared to 62 days in September 2015.
Chester County was the only county in the five-county Philadelphia area to report declines in the number of properties sold and the number sold.
In the five-county area – Chester, Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia – 4,225 houses sold, up 5.6 percent from the 4,001 properties sold in September 2015. Median prices in the region rose to $235,000 from $230,000, the report found.
