Bomb squad removes hand grenades from basement
NORTH COVENTRY >> Authorities were called to a home Wednesday afternoon to recover hand grenades found inside the residence.
Members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Bomb and Hazardous Device Disposal Unit responded to the 200 block of South Hanover Street to remove two grenades from the basement. The occupants of the home were allowed back inside after more than an hour, according to a source at the scene.
North Coventry police confirmed the recovery of the grenades, but would not elaborate, saying a news release would later be published on the department’s website and Facebook page.
