Bomb squad re­moves hand grenades from base­ment

NORTH COVEN­TRY >> Au­thor­i­ties were called to a home Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon to re­cover hand grenades found in­side the res­i­dence.

Mem­bers of the Mont­gomery County Sher­iff’s Of­fice Bomb and Haz­ardous De­vice Dis­posal Unit re­sponded to the 200 block of South Hanover Street to re­move two grenades from the base­ment. The oc­cu­pants of the home were al­lowed back in­side af­ter more than an hour, ac­cord­ing to a source at the scene.

North Coven­try po­lice con­firmed the re­cov­ery of the grenades, but would not elab­o­rate, say­ing a news re­lease would later be pub­lished on the depart­ment’s web­site and Face­book page.
