Unbeaten Shanahan volleyball locks up the Ches-Mont National crown
Henderson boys soccer rolls to division crown
Renee Schultz recorded six aces, seven kills, 10 assists and five digs as Bishop Shanahan clinched the Ches-Mont League National Division volleyball title with a 3-0 victory over Kennett by scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-11, on Thursday.
The Eagles, the topranked team in the state, moved to 12-0 in the National and 17-0 overall.
Ceandra Ashman added five aces, 13 assists and three digs and Tess Elder had four kills and three digs.
Natalie Ogden recorded three kills and four digs and Cogan Wybranski had two digs and one ace. 25-14, 25-15, 25-15. Rebecca Gray had six kills and three blocks, while Taylor Dermond added seven digs.
For the Hornets, Nikki Jones had 16 digs, Logan Wolfe had 12 digs and six blocks, Julianna Huggard had four kills and Nicole Scott collected four kills.
Caroline Bnich had 11 kills and eight digs as the Cougars (9-2, 14-5) triumphed, 26-24, 25-20, 25- 14, in the Ches-Mont con- test. Morgan Tucker registered three kills and three blocks and Mary Williams recorded 25 assists, 13 digs and two aces.
Kenzie Pincura had 10 kills and eight digs and Gina Schetroma contributed 30 digs and two aces as the Whippets recorded the 25-21, 25-14, 2725 Ches-Mont victory. Aly Reardon had eight kills, four aces and 15 digs; Haley Lewis had six kills and three blocks and Sophie Gelling recorded six kills.
Alvin Dahn scored twice as the Lions (8-5-1) recorded the Tri-County victory.
Mitch Gill and Samari Massey had two goals each as the Cougars (6-3-2) posted the emphatic Ches-Mont victory.
John Park scored with three minutes left in the second half as the Golden Knights (6-4, 8-7) edged the Red Devils (6-5) in the Ches-Mont match. Chris MacMahon scored earlier in the half to give Rustin the lead.
Hulisses Carmona equalized for Avon Grove.
The Warriors swept their into the Class AAA team semifinals and secured a spot in states. Amanda Baxter and Hannah Baxter collected singles victories.
