St. Fran­cis-in-the-Fields

Epis­co­pal Church: The new Bishop of the Epis­co­pal Dio­cese of Penn­syl­va­nia, The Right Rev­erend Daniel Gu­tier­rez, will pre­side at the in­stal­la­tion and in­sti­tu­tion of the fifth rec­tor in the his­tory of St. Fran­cis-in-the-Fields Epis­co­pal Church in Malvern, The Rev. Kevin Del­laria. The ser­vice will be held at the church lo­cated at 689 Su­gar­town Road in Malvern (Wil­lis­town Town­ship) at 4 p.m. Sun­day, Oct. 16. Bishop Gu­tier­rez be­came the Dio­cese of Penn­syl­va­nia’s new Bishop in July, the same month Fr. Del­laria be­gan his min­istry at St. Fran­cis. Fr. Del­laria and his wife, Donna, and their three chil­dren re­side in Malvern.

Au­tumn Fest 2016

Church of the Saviour: The church, at 651 N. Wayne Ave. Wayne, will host an Au­tumn Fest Fri­day, Oct. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. for chil­dren and their par­ents, ex­tended fam­ily, friends and neigh­bors. The evening fea­tures food, drinks, candy and desserts, dozens of game booths, Moon Bounce and other in­flat­a­bles, face paint­ing and prizes. Cos­tumes are en­cour­aged. Mis­sion­ary and YPD Day

Mt. Zion AME Church,

At­glen: The Evelina Hill Mis­sion­ary So­ci­ety and the Young Peo­ple’s de­part­ment will be cel­e­brat­ing their An­nual Mis­sion­ary and YPD Day Sun­day, Oct. 16. The Rev­erend Clarence Stevens from Brighter Way Church in Newark Delaware will bring the word dur­ing the 10:30am ser­vice. The Rev­erend Fred­er­ick T. Fai­son, Chap­lain at Lin­coln Univer­sity will bring the af­ter­noon mes­sage at the 3:30 p.m ser­vice. The theme for the day is: “On the Bat­tle­field for Our Lord!” scrip­ture ref­er­ence: “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. Ro­mansville UMC Pan­cake Break­fast

Ro­mansville United Methodist Church: The Ro­mansville UMC Women are part­ner­ing with Ap­ple­bee’s at 3479 East Lin­coln Hwy in Thorn­dale for their An­nual Pan­cake Break­fast Satur­day, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m.

to 10 a.m. Ap­ple­bee’s does all the cook­ing and the women of the Ro­mansville Church will be serv­ing the pan­cakes, sausage, or­ange juice, soda, tea and cof­fee. Cost for the “all you can eat” Pan­cake Break­fast is $8 for adults and $4.50 for chil­dren un­der 6. The pro­ceeds will sup­port the cost to mail 100 shoe boxes for the Sa­mar­i­tan’s Purse Op­er­a­tion Christ­mas Child project. Book club dis­cus­sion group

Cal­vary Lutheran Church: 730 South New Street, West Ch­ester; Lead­ers of dif­fer­ent faith com­mu­ni­ties are work­ing to­gether to pro­mote un­der­stand­ing and peace. Pas­tor Dan Krew­son be­lieves “that we must be in­ten­tional to wage peace in light of the es­ca­lat­ing re­li­gious vi­o­lence and ex­trem­ism of our day.” Mem­bers of the Re­li­gious Coun­cil of Greater West Ch­ester are host­ing a book dis­cus­sion group in 201617. Par­tic­i­pants are in­vited to read “Lay­ing Down the Sword” by Philip Jenk­ins. The group will meet four times: Oct. 24, Nov. 28, Jan. 23 and March 6.
