Vil­lanova U. hosts 15th an­nual Buddy Walk

The Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal of Philadel­phia’s 15th An­nual CHOP Buddy Walk and Fam­ily Fun Day took place Oct. 2 at Vil­lanova Univer­sity.

The event be­gan 15 years ago as a way to raise funds, pro­mote ac­cep­tance and in­clu­sion of peo­ple with tri­somy 21 and en­cour­age fam­i­lies to have a great time. As the sole fundrais­ing event for the Tri­somy 21 Pro­gram at CHOP, the Buddy Walk raises cru­cial funds to sup­port the pro­gram year-round, while cel­e­brat­ing chil­dren and adults with Down syn­drome and their fam­i­lies. The event also sup­ports the Na­tional Down Syn­drome So­ci­ety.

This fam­ily fun day was filled with food and en­ter­tain­ment for all ages, in­clud­ing great sweep­stakes prizes and games. Ac­tiv­i­ties in­cluded mas­cot and char­ac­ter ap­pear­ances, moon bounces, face paint­ing, bal­loon an­i­mals, ath­letic ac­tiv­i­ties and more.

A cer­e­mo­nial 2-mile Walk kicked the CHOP Buddy Walk. The day is spon­sored by Wawa, Inc. and Vil­lanova Univer­sity.
