MALVERN >> Artist Randall Graham is hosting an opening reception at his “Gallery 222” studio for his art exhibit.

The opening reception on Thursday is from 5 – 8 p.m. at his studio at 222 East King Street. The exhibit will run through Nov. 12.

Graham said his passion for art began during his childhood with his love of drawing and creating stories through works of art. He studied at The Carlin Academy of Fine Art. Bo Bartlett also taught Graham and influenced his style.

Born in Malvern, Graham now resides in West Chester with his family. He keeps a studio in Malvern where he works and teaches traditional painting fundamentals.

Graham said he is ambitious when it comes to his approach to painting. His work comes in to being through a variety of channels including studio work, en plein air (outdoor painting) and his “en rain air” style. The “en rain air” style comes about from painting a scene from his minivan or window while it is raining. The raindrops on the window act as a means for abstraction. He noted the juxtaposition of abstract and reality creates emotional paintings which have become very popular with his collectors.

Graham said he also loves to share his knowledge of painting through teaching. Graham teaches traditional painting fundamentals at Randall Graham Studio in Malvern and at Chester County Art Association.

“Helping others create is a truly gratifying experience,” Graham said.
