Pedestrian killed on Route 422
A pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle, authorities confirmed.
Joseph J. McCloskey III, 46, a resident of the Rainbow Motel in Douglassville, was struck and killed just before 2:30 a.m. along the westbound lanes of Route 422, according to the Berks County Coroner’s Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 4 a.m.
There is still no determination into the cause or manner of death. The office is not sure if an autopsy will be performed. The driver of the vehicle did stop and was the first person to call 911, according to the coroner’s office. Police continue to investigate.
The westbound lanes were shut down for a few hours as authorities continued to investigate, according to a media report.
